| USB KVM Switches are our specialty and we offer a broad range of brands and models. Feel free to look around. If you have any questions check out our FAQ or send us an email. We are more than happy to answer any question you might have, and assist you in making the best USB KVM switch choice possible. USB KVM Switch USB KVMs are computer hardware that allows you to access multiple computers using only one Keyboard, Video monitor, and Mouse. The range of the connections is very limited, due to the fact that the actual USB cable only supports a 5 meter range. This limits the distance that a computer can be accessed from to 5 meters, but could theoretically be extended to as much as 30 meters with the use of USB Hubs and extension cables. This means that ideally suited to handle small jobs, such as administering "headless" machines. Benefits of a USB KVM Switch The biggest advantage of a USB KVM switch is its versatility. All newer computers use USB as the basis for peripheral communication. This means that there is very little translation that needs to go on between the switch and the keyboard, mouse, and monitor. The same is true for communication between the switch and the computer. The plug and playability of this type of KVM is a defiant advantage over most KVMs. They also have a very small footprint and portable design. These types of KVM are made to move around, and they do that quite well. They are also extremely functional. Anything another KVM switch can do (other than range specific abilities) a USB KVM can do just as well. |
